DAIWA adds new 3-, 4-, and 5-inch sizes to the popular Tournament D-FIN Swimbait Series
At its release, DAIWA Field Marketing Manager, Chris Martin said, “Its paddletail has an exceptional swimming action, regardless of the speed of retrieve. It wobbles wide whether slow-rolled or clipped along. The catalyst is an oversized paddletail combined with a narrowly tapering body, which allows the tail to maximize its side-to-side action. That same wide swing produces more sonic vibrations than your typical swimbait as well.”
Downsized Profiles, Upsized Potential
Those performance benchmarks now extend to the new 3-, 4-, and 5-inch 2026 Tournament D-FIN swimbaits. These reduced profiles open the menu to a vast array of freshwater species—including walleyes, crappies, and bass of all varieties—as well as saltwater staples like redfish, speckled trout, and snook. On the West Coast, these smaller sizes are a natural fit for calico bass and spotted sea bass.
he Straight Shooter
Martin also highlighted the Tournament D-FIN’s legendary stability. “It tracks incredibly well, running on a straight path whether fished weightless, on a weighted swimbait hook, or rigged on a jig. It simply stays on track.”

The Dynamic Rolling Action
Beyond the tail’s signature swing, the Tournament D-FIN features a sophisticated secondary action rarely found in traditional paddle-tails. “On the retrieve, the body has a distinct rock and roll—much like a boat pitching side-to-side,” Martin explained. This rhythmic body roll doesn’t just increase the lure's presence in the water – it strategically catches the light, causing the glitter-infused plastic to flash and reflect from every angle to trigger reaction strikes.
A Scent for All Seasons
The bait’s formulation provides an additional competitive edge. “DAIWA developed a balanced blend of salt and a natural squid attractant,” said Martin. “The formula is evenly distributed throughout the body, ensuring a continuous dispersal of scent.” While the squid scent is a proven winner in saltwater, freshwater predators are equally responsive to the aroma.
Soft Touch, Hard Science
The Tournament D-FIN’s consistency is another hallmark. “DAIWA’s molding process yields uniform softness from the head to the paddletail,” Martin added. “The result is a fluid, natural swimming action throughout the body without the stiff, unnatural flexing common in lesser baits.”
Tackle Box Harmony
Furthermore, the D-FIN solves a common angler headache: color bleeding. Because the base plastic formulation is color-neutral, different colorways can be stored together without staining or tinting one another.
