TRENTON, Mich. – Stop 6 Presented by B&W Trailer Hitches at the Detroit River was a wild one from start to finish, with big weights, lots of movement in the points standings, and a tightly contested chase for the win. In the end, Keith Carson put it all together for three days to earn his first MLF win as a pro with a three-day total of 67 pounds, 6 ounces. For the win, Carson earned $80,000 and a ticket to REDCREST 2025. Finishing runner-up, Alec Morrison weighed 66-12, and though he could not clinch the win, he did earn both the Fishing Clash Angler of the Year and Polaris Rookie of the Year titles. 

This being the last Tackle Warehouse Invitationals event of the season, the top five pros in the points also earned Bass Pro Tour invites for 2025. Morrison leads a high-flying group of anglers that includes Jake Lawrence, Colby Miller, Jaden Parrish and Marshall Hughes.

Under dark clouds and 20 to 30 mph winds, the 40 anglers in Pool A headed out to start Stage 2 of the BPT tour. Muddy water kept the catch rate down but someone always figures them out and Brent Ehrler was that guy all day long. Docks, canals and corners were all key for consistent bass fishing. Brent Ehrler jumped into an early lead and held it right to the finish.  Wesley Strader and Jason Christie rallied in the afternoon periods to threaten the leader but to no avail. Pool B starts tomorrow with 40 new anglers giving Conroe another try. Live action starts at 10am CT time.

Takahiro Omori Wins 2018 Bassmaster Elite Lake Martin with 59-08lbs!

Before this week, it had been more than 15 years since Takahiro Omori fished a major professional bass tournament on Lake Martin.
 
But history — both recent and distant — says he should find ways to come back as often as he can.
 
Omori went into Sunday’s final round of the Bassmaster Elite at Lake Martin presented by Econo Lodge with a 4-pound, 2-ounce lead. He managed a final-day catch of 14 pounds to claim the victory with a four-day total of 59-8.
 
It was Omori’s seventh career victory with B.A.S.S. and his second B.A.S.S. win in three years in the state of Alabama after a triumph on Wheeler Lake in 2016. He also won a FLW Tour event on Lake Martin in 2001.
 
“This time of year, I like to fish shallow — especially during the prespawn,” said Omori, who surpassed $2 million in B.A.S.S. career earnings with the $100,000 win. “Usually when we schedule a tournament for early February, it’s in Florida and the fish have already spawned. But schedule-wise, coming to this lake this time of year is very good for me.”
 

2017 Bassmaster Classic Bracket Showdown on Lake Pokegama

Two matches, with a camera on each angler's boat, will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m today and the other two matches will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. On Wednesday, the anglers will complete their six-hour matches in the other time slot, morning to afternoon and vice versa.On Thursday, there will be two full-day matches simultaneously, and the final will be on Friday.

2016 BASS Northern Open Lake Champlain Day 1: Tacoronte Grabs Lead with 21-03lbs!

Guessing his primary spot would be taken, Jesse Tacoronte went to his Plan B spot and took over the pro division lead at the Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Northern Open on Lake Champlain. 
“Since I was the last boat (in the takeoff) I figured I would go to my worst water first but it turned out we were done there by 9 o’clock,” Tacoronte said. The Orlando, Fla., angler quickly caught his limit of smallmouth bass and culled to accumulate 21 pounds, 3 ounces by 9 a.m.
“I didn’t expect that quality of fish to be in that one spot because that was my ‘B’ water,” Tacoronte said. The rest of the day Tacoronte “dinked around” because he wanted to save the best spots he found in practice for the rest of the tournament.

Clark Wendlandt has seen a lot of things throughout his career. Yet the act of kindness he experienced on day three of the Walmart FLW Tour event presented by Ranger Boats on the Potomac River surprised even him.
With Wendlandt facing boat troubles, fellow top 20 angler Shinichi Fukae swapped boats with him – effectively ending his own day – to allow the Leander, Texas, pro to continue fishing and retain his hold on the No. 1 spot. Wendlandt’s 14-pound, 8-ounce bag was the second largest of the day, allowing him to increase his lead over second-place pro Adrian Avena to 3 pounds, 12 ounces.
“I don’t know if I’ve ever seen an act of sportsmanship that great ever in this sport,” Wendlandt says. “Every time I caught one after that I just kept saying, ‘Thank you, Shin.’”

The top 20 anglers launched amid torrential rains and unstable conditions. However, none of it seemed to affect Wendlandt early on, as he put three quick fish in the boat. That’s when things started going wrong. Wendlandt suffered a mechanical failure with his rig and figured he’d have to fish with his trolling motor until he could be towed back to the ramp early.
That’s where Fukae came in. In 16th place and fishless at the time, Fukae insisted Wendlandt trade boats so he could continue with his day unhindered. Fukae stayed in Wendlandt’s boat and was towed back to takeoff. Despite being loaned a boat for a restart, Fukae more or less ran out of time and never boated a keeper.

Walmart FLW Tour Potomac River Day 2: Wendlandt Leads on Difficult Day!

Clark Wendlandt makes top 10s. It’s just what he does almost better than almost anyone else. In fact, he’s tied for the second most top 10s in Walmart FLW Tour history with 28.

So seeing Wendlandt’s name in the sixth-place slot after day one of the Walmart FLW Tour event presented by Ranger Boats on the Potomac River really should have been no surprise. Of course, Wendlandt also has three Tour victories, and he’s put himself in contention for No. 4 after posting the second-largest limit of day two – 17 pounds, 3 ounces – to overtake Adrian Avena and Bryan Schmitt for the top spot.

His two-day total is 32-10.

“I had a good day; pretty similar to yesterday,” Wendlandt says. “I just had that 5-pounder today.”

Like many of the other top anglers, the pro from Leander, Texas, has found an area of the river pretty much to himself and has been tight-lipped about his exact pattern. He is covering a lot of water, though, and many of the spots he fished today were the same as on day one.

That fact would worry Wendlandt if the tournament was being held on a lake, as he doesn’t know if his pattern would hold up on other types of fisheries. However, being that the Potomac is a tidal fishery, he’s far more optimistic.

FLW EverStart Lake Champlain Day 3: Avena Champs Champlain!

Weighing in a glorious bag of 20-03 pound sealed the deal for Adrian Avena. Leading all three days, Avena uses a mix of lures from buzzbaits, flipping a jig but his killer bait was a silver /black back Storm Wiggle Wart. Cranking has won many tournaments on Champlain, a weedy and rocky natural lake, but this might be a first for the old school Wart. Regardless, Adrian worked one key area for all it was worth; to the tune of $29,153 in total winnings and a sexy trophy.

FLW EverStart Lake Champlain Day 2: Avena Leads for a Second Day!

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Lake Champlain didn’t make things easy for Adrian Avena, but the New Jersey pro stuck to his plan and held onto the top spot at the EverStart Northern Division tournament on Lake Champlain.

After grabbing the day-one lead with 21 pounds, 3 ounces, Avena added a day-two limit of 16-10 and held off all challengers with his 37-13 total. Confident that he could get back on the fish he worked yesterday, Avena ran south to Ticonderoga and. The day’s rainy conditions weren’t a big deal, but a southeast wind whipped the lake into a washing machine, so the trip was grueling to say the least.

“Today, I got down there a little faster than I thought I would and I left myself about two hours to get back and I cut it close,” he said. “But I had a decent day down there. I just couldn’t get those kicker bites.”

Avena said the rough ride left him with some housekeeping chores before he could start fishing. This brief delay probably cost him some weight.

“It was pretty rough the first 15 or so miles and when I got there my rod locker was destroyed and all my rods were tangled,” Avena said. “My co-angler just tossed out there and caught a 5-5. He caught another one about 4 ½ and those were two bites I really needed.”
