Johnston Brothers Win B1 on Canada Day Weekend!

Rain, wind and even down one brother didn't stop the Johnston brothers to take the first win of the 2017 B1 season on the Bay of Quinte. With Cory fishing the BASS Northern Open in New York, Chris went it alone on Friday and sacked 21 pounds of smallmouth on Day1. Limited to the Bay only, no venturing to famed Lake Ontario, most of the field ignore the smallmouth but not Chris. Cory drove back from the BASS event and they pair quickly focused on largemouths in the grass beds that grow throughout this system. Saturday's catch of 18.38lbs was enough to hold off team of Jay Martin and Brad Arnott. Father and son team of Cal and Paul Climpson netted at 5.5lb bass, the largest of the tournament.

Fast-acting fishermen – and a lot of good luck – rescued four men from the near-freezing waters of Adolphus Reach east of Picton Saturday morning.

Scott Walcott of Bay of Quinte Charters said he was on a trip with several clients at about 11:45 a.m. Saturday when he spotted trouble about 500 metres off
