Panther Martin is introducing more than 100 new products for 2016 – a significant increase on the number it would normally produce annually and a measure of the company’s capacity for innovation.

Prominent among the new launches are two lightweight series of lures for salmon and steelhead anglers fishing slower and shallower rivers.

The SalmonLite selection comprises four sizes and eight colours, with replaceable hoochie skirts, hammered spinners and a painted UV finish to maximise reflection and visibility. They also feature two true-to-life UV-treated salmon egg beads, an easy to replace split ring hook attachment system and a Mustad Big Gun Siwash hook.

Translucent salmon egg beads also feature in Panther Martin’s SonicEggs, a series of gold and silver plated spinners created for catching steelhead and salmon and particularly recommended for frog water and shallow river fishing. The blades are both convex and concave and a genuine gold or silver plated bead sits just above the hook to add to the allure. SonicEggs are available in three sizes and eight colours.

Panther Martin has also added the extravagantly named Go-Glo Flash-A-Bou range to its comprehensive offering. These lures live up to their name courtesy of a high concentration of UV pigments that are brighter than traditional glow paints and emit light in deep, dark water.

The Flash-A-Bou’s iridescent fibres create further flash and reflection around the hook to help create a natural minnow action as they spin through the water. The combination of the two features is very effective for catching trout, bass, pike, perch and pickerel, says the manufacturer. Go-Glo Flash-A-Bou lures are available in three sizes and seven colours.

For the muskie market, Panther Martin has a new-for-2016 series of Classic and Big Eye Muskie spinners, each with an oversized tail concealing a heavy-duty 5/0 Eagle Claw hook. The tandem tail also has a 3/0 Eagle Claw treble. The lures send out sonic vibrations to heighten their attraction to pike and muskie.

The Classic style features polished brass or nickel plated brass blades, while the Big Eye versions have an oversized holographic eye and holographic painted blades. They are available in two sizes and seven colours.
