Scott Murison delivered two consistent limits of 23.66 lb and 25.94 lb for a two day total of 49.06 lbs for 10 bass to win the 2020 CSFL Canadian Open on Lake Simcoe held out of Lagoon City, Ontario. The two day tournament was split with stark contrasting weather. Saturday, July 11, greeted anglers with stiff winds, rain and overcast skies for much of the day. Sunday, was dramatically clearer and calmer, permitting anglers to focus their attention on monster smallmouth that swim in the famed lake. Social media interviews of the anglers relayed the dread anglers faces on Day 1 as most anglers feel the fishing is best when the sun and heat draw smallmouth to the shallows making them more accessible. Day 1 results didn't live up to the traditional Lake Simcoe standards. Sunday's weighin saw 10 limits over 20lbs with Chris Johnston's 27.36lbs being the day and tournament's largest 5-bass limit. Johnston incredible catch still wan't enough to dethrone Murison and he finished the event in second.
