ICAST 2015: Minn Kota Announces EO - New Electric Outboard Motors

The new Minn Kota® EO is an electric outboard motor designed for use in both freshwater and saltwater. It is available in two models: EO ½ HP which is powered by a single 12V deep-cycle marine battery, and the EO 1 HPwhich is powered by a two-battery 24V system.
EO Half HPIn the past, recreational boaters relied on small gas outboards for pushing johnboats, canoes, kayaks, dinghies and tenders. These motors have the necessary power, but they’re expensive, noisy and not allowed on gas-restricted lakes.
For dependable, quiet and clean power, the innovative Minn Kota EO is engineered exclusively for outboard performance. The lower unit and all electronics have been built and tested to run hard at high speeds for extended periods of time without overheating. And Minn Kota engineers dialed in the design to make sure you get the most power and run time out of your motor. When starting the day with fully charged batteries, boaters will have up to nine hours of continuous run time at half speed. To ensure you make it back to the dock, the motor’s Push-to-Test Battery Meter gives you instant “state of charge.”
In addition to variable speed control, the Minn Kota EO features a 36-inch adjustable shaft, a Tilt/Extended Tiller and an adjustable clamp-on stow/deploy bracket. Manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the EO ½ HP is $799.99 and the EO 1 HP is $899.99. Shipping will begin in October 2015.

  1. Simply using a set of short jumper cables tconnect the starting battery tthe trolling battery for about 3-4 minutes the battery will be picked up by the charger and the bad connection light goes out. trollingbatteryadvisor.com Did you know that one of the most important and complicated decisions you can make in marine electronics is choosing the correct battery charging system for your boat? Charging your marine batteries is a simple process of driving electrical currents intyour battery in the reverse direction as the discharge occurred.
