$20 000 Trout at Isabella Lake Derby

Thousands of Dedicated Anglers Attempted to Land
Their Share of a Quarter Million Dollars.
With the 22nd Annual Isabella Lake Fishing Derby sponsored by Berkley in the books, another great weekend of family, friends, and fishing was had by the thousands of participants. Every year this event draws fisherman from all over the United States, this year was no exception.
Dave Wensel, Pure Fishing's Western Region Sales Manager stated, "This year's event was an impressive sight with all the volunteers busily helping all the anglers and it was fun to see the excitement of the families looking forward to spending time together and trying for the elusive $20,000 trout." Dave went on to say, "It is great to be a part of an industry that supports time together with family and friends, catching fish is just the bonus. Berkley has the best consumers in the world and we are proud to be a part of the one of the largest trout derby in the country if not the largest."

Pure Fishing Inc, the manufacturer of such brands as Berkley and Shakespeare are committed to making 2012's Isabella Lake Fishing Derby even better.

Mark Galey of Galey's Marine gives the keys to Paul Weeks of Ridgecrest, winner of the Isabella Lake Fishing Derby's boat drawing. A 17 1/2" Lowe Bass boat was supplied by Galey's Marine in Bakersfield, CA. This was Paul's first time entering the Isabella Lake Fishing Derby and said will more than likely be back next year. Paul brought his father, Phil with him to pick up his new boat.

The success of this event has always been because of the great people who take part in this yearly event and of course the newcomers to the derby. When Kevin Warner of Lake Los Angeles was asked his thoughts on the three day event, "I must say for being the first time at Isabella and the derby, I had an absolute awesome time!! The wind was a challenge, but my brother and I managed to land a couple of trout (no tag's) and enjoyed the beauty of the lake itself." Kevin went on to say, "The staff personnel were super helpful and made things a breeze when checking in at the Moose Lodge. Thanks Isabella Fishing Derby for the awesome time. Looking forward to next year's event."
Donald Teutimez of Bakersfield, CA is pictured here with the thousand dollar trout which was dedicated to Jeremy Hill. Jenn Hill, Jeremy's aunt stated, "My husband and I are very humbled by the generosity of the derby committee. They named a $1,000 fish in honor of our nephew who is fighting ALD in a hospital in Minnesota. My nephew Jeremy lives for the derby and cannot wait to fish again soon! We were lucky enough to catch a 20 dollar fish this year. The derby has become a family tradition for us and we look forward to it every year!"
Although the "official" Isabella Lake Fishing Derby sponsored by Berkley has passed, thank you to the Kern River Valley Chamber of Commerce, there are still fish in the lake with money on their backs.
