RACINE, Wis. (July 2012) – Continuing its tradition of innovation, Cannon® introduces its new line of manual downriggers with a rugged, lightweight, ergonomic design that is perfect for controlled-depth fishing.
“More and more anglers are targeting multiple species of fish,” Cannon Senior Product Manager Dave Maryanov said. “Their boats have to be rigged for a diverse range of fishing techniques. We designed our new manual downriggers with that in mind. They’re simple to operate, dependable, and deliver extremely high performance, while still being low profile to accommodate smaller boats.”
Cannon’s exclusive clutch control allows anglers to deploy the weight gradually rather than using a sudden stop and start method, allowing for very accurate depth positioning and bait presentation.
The new manual downriggers include a dual axis rod holder which can be adjusted side to side or up and down. They also have an improved boom end with a closed pulley system to prevent the cable from slipping off the reel. In addition the new manual downriggers include a redesigned ergonomic crank handle.
The mounting base is the same design used for Cannon’s electric downrigger models. By having the same base for both electric and manual downriggers, Cannon models can be swapped out quickly and easily as needed.
The new Uni-Troll models have a retrieve rate of two feet per spool rotation. This makes the downrigger weight retrieval incredibly fast and efficient.
The new Cannon manual downriggers (includes Uni-Troll™ 5 ST, Uni-Troll 10 STX, Uni-Troll 10 STX-TS and Easi-Troll™ ST) will be available in the fall with a suggested retail price range of $189.99 to $449.99.
